Local Authorities have a responsibility for investigating homelessness applications in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002).

Advice on Housing Benefit, Homefinder Somerset and Homelessness Prevention
We are on hand to help with queries on a range of services provided by Sedgemoor District Council, including Housing and Council Tax Benefit, the Housing Advice Service and the Homefinder Somerset bidding process. We have information on the weekly adverts readily available for you to view, together with a variety of information leaflets.
We have Advice Centres at the following venues
Bridgwater House, King Square, Bridgwater.
Open Monday to Friday, 8.45pm-5.00pm.
Princess Hall, Princess Street, Burnham on Sea.
9.30am – 12.30pm every Wednesday on a drop in basis. Appointments may be arranged with the relevant Service for the afternoon between 1.30pm- 4.00pm. We can assist with the Homefinder Somerset bidding process all day between 9.30am and 4pm. Please be aware that the office closes between the 12.30pm and 1.30pm.
Wedmore – The Parish Rooms, Grants Lane.
10.30am – 12.30pm on a drop in basis to offer advice and assistance regarding a variety of services provided by Sedgemoor which include advice on Housing and Council Tax Benefit and the Homefinder Somerset bidding process.
