Application Evidence

Evidence Required After Application Submission

Once you have made an application to join the Homefinder Somerset housing register we require certain mandatory evidence from you before we can assess your application.  This will be required  within 28 days of you submitting your application to us. This will be requested by the Local Authority that you have applied to.

The mandatory evidence that is required is as follows:

  • Proof of national insurance number for you and any partner or joint applicant
  • Proof of current address for you and any partner or joint applicant
  • Proof of current name for you and any partner or joint applicant

Set out  below is a table of acceptable evidence that you can provide to us for these three requirements.

Evidence of current name
  • Current valid signed EU passport
  • Current valid signed non-EU passport
  • Current valid full or provisional UK or EU photo card driving licence
  • Current valid full UK paper driving licence (if issued before 1998)
  • Current valid National Identity Card
  • Current years HMRC Tax Code Notification or statement
  • Current Firearms or Shotgun Certificate
  • Current Residence Permit issued by the Home Office
  • Birth Certificate
  • Adoption Certificate
  • Marriage/Civil Partnership certificate
  • Current Benefits Agency entitlement award letter (not hand written)
  • Current car registration documents
  • Deed-poll documents
  • Decree nisi or Decree absolute document
  • DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) paperwork

 

Evidence of national insurance number
  • Current payslip
  • Current P45
  • Current P60
  • Current bank statement showing payments by direct debit for class 2 national insurance contributions, or benefit payment received as long as your national insurance number shows
  • National insurance contributions account statement
  • National insurance number advice letter
  • National insurance number plastic card
  • Current Benefits Agency entitlement award letter (not hand written)
  • HMRC Tax Assessment or Statement
  • HMRC Construction Industry Registration Card or Certificate (CIS4,CIS55 or CIS6)
  • Current letter from the Department for Work and Pensions (not hand written)
Evidence of current address
  • Current Gas utility bill
  • Current Electricity utility bill
  • Current Telephone utility bill (not mobile telephone)
  • Current Rent Account statement
  • Current Housing Benefit Award letter
  • Current Council Tax Reduction Award letter
  • Current bank statement
  • Current Post Office account statement
  • Current UK mortgage letter
  • Current Tenancy Agreement
  • Current credit card statement
  • Current Benefits Agency entitlement award letter (not hand written)
  • Current house buildings insurance policy
  • Current house contents insurance policy
  • Current car insurance policy
  • Current valid full or provisional UK or EU photo card driving licence
  • Current valid full UK paper driving licence
  • Current years HMRC Tax Code Notification or statement
  • Current notice to vacate property

Your current name and address must match the name and address on the documents you supply. The documents must be dated within the last 12 months.

In addition in order to be included on the Homefinder Somerset housing register you must  also provide a five year address history and prove that you have a local connection to Somerset (subject to certain exceptions).  You will  be required to provide evidence of your local connection.
