  • Extra Care: Housing designed to meet the needs of frailer older people. You have your own home together with care and support, and communal facilities onsite. Further details are provided on the Extra Care Housing page of this website.

 

  • Local Connection: To register with Homefinder Somerset you will need to either live (or have lived), work or have immediate family members who live in Somerset. Similarly, to be considered for some homes you will need to either live (or have lived), work or have immediate family members who live within a particular area of Somerset (for example a village or parish).

 

  • Sensitive Let: To be considered for this vacancy, a new resident will need to demonstrate a positive awareness towards local residents and the community. Applicants with a recent history of anti-social behaviour, or drug/ alcohol issues will not be accepted

 

  • Sheltered housing: Housing for older people. The minimum age will be confirmed in the advert

 

  • Supported housing: Where housing and support are provided together. Support could be offered for example with health needs, including mental health, drug and alcohol use, managing benefits and debt, developing daily living skills and accessing education, training and employment. Some schemes are long-term, designed for people who need ongoing support to live independently, others are short-term, designed to help people develop the emotional and practical skills needed to move into more mainstream housing.
